Can cold home kill fleas?
Fleas dont die in cold conditions they hibernate. A flea egg can survive for 10 being or more in the carpets or under skirting boards. When they are exposed to warm conditions they hatch, the only way to be sure of getting rid of them is fumegating your house, and de flea your pets at the same time, after fumegating you should hoover the carpets and empty the dust bag as they can crawl/jump back out of the hoover, you should do this until you are sure they are gone.
if you want to get rid of them do what they used to do in the olden days (a bit yucky but it works!)
get hold of some blood (from your local butcher the best place – please don’t cut yourself!)
place it in a bowl and leave it in the centre of the room.
As if by magic, the fleas hop to it, into it and are stuck and will drown!
Then you can dispose of it

I have fought my honest share of fleas. Right, they do thrive and are much more active in the heat. I’m pretty sure that freezing out your home for a few days would mearly make them go dormant until it was warm enough for them to get back to business again. You don’t mention if you have a pet causing the flea infestation. If so, the first step is to rid the pet of the modest buggers. Frontline is very excellent and lasts quite a while.
As for the house, the best thing is to get enough Raid flea bombs to do every room in the house. It’s kind of expensive, but it gets the job done. Follow the instructions on the package, and don’t leave pets in the house. When it’s safe to go back into the home, vacuum everything ALOT., including furniture and matresses. Dispose of the vacuumed-up dust outside the house. There will be dead or dying fleas and also eggs. The eggs are the real problem. If you have lots of fleas, you have more eggs than you even want to know about. That is why you really MUST repeat the bombing in about 2 weeks, after any eggs that survived the first bombing have hatched out. You want to kill those before they have a chance to lay more eggs. If you don’t bomb a second time, you will just get infested again. It’s a vicious cycle.
As a chemical-free alternative, you can lessen the flea populace somewhat by placing a lamp on the stump in the infested area and placing a shallow pan of water on the stump under the set alight. Leave it on at nocturnal, and the fleas will jump to the set alight and fall into the water. Won’t help with the eggs, but does get rid of alot of the adult fleas. Excellent luck!
