Plenty of good memories found in a bad garage

    Recently, I noticed my ATV tri-fold ramp wedged up under a table. The last time I remember using it was when I shot my moose last year. I don’t think it’s where I left it but I’m not sure how it got there either.

    There’s several coolers scattered about. The large red Igloo cooler was found on the side of the freeway. I had to order $6 worth of plastic hinges off eBay to fix it and now it’s one of my favorites.

    About three weeks ago I had it filled with ice and big rainbows from Blackfoot Reservoir. That was a great day fishing and I’m glad my oldest boy, Carson, got to go with me. He caught some mighty fine fish that day.

    My ice auger is propped up in a corner, my ice fishing sled hangs on the south wall, and my two ice fishing buckets are randomly placed around the garage. I’m confident that my ice scooper, bucket lids, and fishing tent are out there somewhere, too. I figure I’ve still got four months before I have to worry about those, though.

    My float tube is hanging next to my ice fishing sled and could use some air.  It’s been a couple of years since my step-dad last used that.

    I think he likes the solitude of escaping the grandkids and floating around the lake casting a Mepps spinner for trout or bass. I haven’t had much desire to use it since I got my boat but it sure is nice to have if the right occasion comes up.

    Looking at the float tube reminds me I still need to try out the waders hanging next to it.They were a gift from a close friend named Ray. When he heard me complain about the holes a mouse had chewed in my breathable waders, he asked me my boot size.

    Next thing I know, he’s handing over a pair of Duck’s Unlimited insulated waders. They were given to him but didn’t fit so he was kind enough to pass them along.

    I know I need to go to the lake and see if there are any leaks soon. I would hate to have to retrieve a duck out of the Bear River in December and discover a new cuss word when some cold water sneaks in.

    Most of my old fishing rods are in a two piece rack that Carson made me last year in Boy Scouts. I’m glad he got that woodworking merit badge. At least something is where it should be.

    Tucked under the fishing rods is my Kolpin gun case for my four-wheeler.  I’ve never been able to get it mounted just right so it’s only been on a few hunts. It really would be nice to have it properly mounted this year. We’ve got several antelope tags for Wyoming, a couple of deer tags and two elk hunts that it would come in handy for.
