Rhodesian coins cause stir in Musana

β€œThe scarcest Southern Rhodesia coins include the 1939 and 1946 two shillings,” the website says. It adds that with moderate wear, the 118 coins of a Southern Rhodesia complete collection (1932-54) may be worth about $1 800 or more, depending on the level of collector demand. If the set contains the 31 coins of Rhodesia & Nyasaland (1955-64) that would add another $65 and the 26 coins of independent Rhodesia (1964-77) $10,” says a collector on the website.

How do you clean ancient coins without damaging them? Soaking in ...

If you really want to see what’s under all of that patina, try vinegar and salt. Soak them in vinegar, take a wet fine bristled toothbrush, dip it in dry non-iodized salt and scrub the coin after it has soaked about an hour in the vinegar.

Make sure that if you clean them with this method that you soak and rinse them THOROUGHLY or you’ll get pock marks in them later on.

That was over a year ago and this method didn’t damage my coins at all (some will say it does) but I think it’s because I rinsed them in a stong stream of clear water after using the vinegar and salt.
