Acura Refines TL Styling for 2012

Car manufacturers often do this. I remember the last of the big Chevy Impalas back in the early 1990s. It arrived with low cutouts in the rear wheelwells. It made the huge vehicle seem even more whale-like, so after a few years, the rear wheels once again showed themselves. The 1996 Ford Taurus, a jelly bean introduced at precisely the time when sharp lines were coming back into style, lost some of its distinctive styling after a few years to keep up with changing tastes. Not long ago, Subaru decided to emulate Alfa Romeo, or some might even say the Edsel, with a slim vertical grille up front. It was a non-starter, and within a couple of years the cars reverted to wide, generic grilles once again. Kind of sad, really, but the goal is to sell cars, and people have to like the way they look before they’ll write that check. All this is to say that the Acura TL, the brand’s highly regarded sports sedan, will no longer need to be praised for its “inner beauty.” I actually got compliments on the car from colleagues and even an unsolicited “beautiful car” from a guy at the Chevron station. The drama of the overall design is no longer hampered by excess in the details. The TL’s double-wishbone independent front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension are effective, but Acura improves ride quality and road-holding further by employing dual-stage “blow off” style hydraulic suspension dampers, hydro-compliant bushings for mounting the transmission and key suspension components and a high-tech engine mount design. This TL starts good and just gets better the more you add to it. My SH-AWD model sported both the Tech Package and the Advance Package. The former brings in those sensational and admired seats as well as a fully featured navigation system with voice recognition and real-time traffic and weather. The potent sound system, along with extra insulation for silence, gives you a portable concert hall as you go about your merry way. The Advance Package comprises sporty 19-inch wheels and a blind-spot information system. These systems, which are proliferating the industry, help prevent those all-too-common incidents where drivers don’t see their neighbors and pull into the lane next to them, causing an accident. It’s hard to imagine why you’d buy the TL without these packages, but you can.

Best Answer if your talking about spark timing then it's pretty simple. there is a clamp down bolt on the intake manifold which will need to be loosened up. after it is loose, you can psychically turn the whole distributor (cap and all) by hand. clockwise will retard the timing and counter clockwise will advance the timing. i can't stress how important it is to do this with a timing light. clip the inductive clip of the timing light around the number 1 cylinder spark plug wire and unplug the vacuum advance unit. from there start the car and see where its at before adjusting. pull the trigger of the gun and shine it at the crank balancer, you should beable to read where shes at. a good STARTING point for timing on a built 383 is *16 btdc (before top dead center of the pistons travel). after wards tighten down the clap bolt and plug the vacuum advance in. good luck I have a chevy 383 stroker motor that i is still sitting on the engine stand? but the problem is that the cylinder number 2 is up i notice this by placing a screwdriver thru the spark plug holes and i am using a hei high electric ignition coil distributor not points. so what should i do ? or can i drop it like that in the car? i want to know if the the timing is off if the cylinder 2 is up? Best Answer Did you build the motor? A Chevy? I'm not sure exactly what your problem is.... I assume you're trying to be sure the cam timing is correct... get a friend to help with this part, it's easier... put your finger (or your friends) over hole #1 and using a long wrench on the crank bolt* bring the piston to the top of its bore on the compression stroke.... the cylinder pressure will push your finger out of the hole. The timing pointer should be showing '0' or TDC, depending on your engine design. Also at this time, with the valve cover off, both intake and exhaust rockers on #1 cylinder will be free of pressure since both valves are completely closed at TDC in preparation of the ignition combustion process. Whether you're using HEI or Kettering ignition (points) now install the distributor into the engine. On both types the business end of your rotor should be pointing near to the #1 plug wire terminal. *Since the motor is on a stand you can also use a flywheel ratchet to turn the motor. Hope this brief bit helps you.
